EAS Batteries and LIMATICA are joining forces
Self-discharge testing for large-format LFP cells — from days to under one hour.

EAS Batteries and Limatica are combining cell production expertise with high-resolution measurement technology. Together, the teams are working to measure the self-discharge of large-format LFP cells in under one hour, instead of waiting several days.
For EAS Batteries, self-discharge is a key indicator of cell quality. It directly affects efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance. Limatica's voltage-noise-based measurement system creates a faster way to evaluate cell quality and provide feedback during production.
Initial tests on large-format LFP cylindrical cells show a strong correlation between voltage noise and conventionally determined self-discharge. Measurements were taken for 30 minutes in the flat section of the open-circuit voltage curve — an area where conventional methods are less effective.
The project has now entered its second phase. EAS cells are being measured during quality checkup to train the system and validate reliable predictions. Because the measurements are passive, they can integrate smoothly into established production workflows.
For EAS, the value is clear: faster quality information, shorter feedback loops, and more data for process improvement. This is especially relevant for high-performance applications in aerospace and defense, where tight cell-parameter tolerances are critical.
The collaboration also strengthens the battery innovation ecosystem in Central Germany. EAS contributes more than 25 years of cell expertise and production experience, while Limatica gains a strong industrial environment to further develop and validate its technology.
